Surgical gown is the personal protective clothing worn by health care personnel during surgical procedures to protect both the patient and health care personnel from any possible transmission of microorganisms, body fluids and particulate matter.
Sterile surgical gowns have long sleeves with elastic cuffs that maintain a sterile barrier between the surgical field and the surgeon's clothes or exposed arms. They are made from either impermeable materials or waterproof, tightly woven fabrics that reduce the number of bacteria in the operating room. The critical zones of the gown (including the front of the body from the top of the shoulders to the knees, and the arms from the wrist cuffs to above the elbows) are covered with PP+PE stiffeners to enhance the protection and isolation.
Surgical gowns are mainly used for medical operations and patient treatment; epidemic prevention inspections in public places; disinfection in virus-contaminated areas; and can also be widely used in military, agriculture, animal husbandry, chemical industry, environmental protection, and other fields.
